The Comic Book Education Foundation (CBEF) understands the power of the sequential arts and how Comic Books can renew a student’s reading life, can inspire families to read together, and can re-energize teachers who need resources to motivate their students. We create and offer resources that promote the understanding of Comic Books and work hard to give everyone, the ability to read and express themselves through the comic book art form.
CBEF is a non-profit organization that promotes literacy through the collection, analysis and reading of Comic Books. We encourage children of all ages to develop their full creative and learning potential, through the sequential arts. We provide children access to high-quality, age-appropriate Comic Books and Graphic Novels, to help address the growing education and achievement gaps for those children who are underserved.
CBEF’s Comics for Literacy & Comic Book League programs provide greater access to high-quality, age-appropriate reading materials for students as an effort to address the growing education and achievement gaps. Giving children access to print materials is associated with positive behavioral, educational, and psychological outcomes. Our programs will serve thousands of students in school districts across the country who otherwise would not have access to quality reading materials and who don’t have the disposable income to buy reading materials. With CBEF, students can create, educate and discover – Comic Books!
